Re-launched in 2000 basically the same as VW's Sharan and SEAT's Alhambra with evident Volkswagen input into the interior. All Galaxy's have air-con, good security and lots of safety equipment.

All but one of the five engine options are sourced from Volkswagen. Recommend the 2.3 (Ford engine) if you're after a petrol and diesel buyers should go for the 115 or 130bhp TDI.

All engines are refined, although the TDIs need 10 or 15 minutes to warm up and external cabin noise is limited.

The driving position in a Ford Galaxy is natural with a good view of the instruments and all controls.

The steering on a Galaxy is good with a precise gear change and not dissimilar handling to the none MPV Mondeo.

The rear two passengers may find the back a bit of a squeeze and removed the load space isn't vacuous (hence why roof boxes are popular for touring).

The Ford Galaxy comes with ABS, dual front and side airbags for all models and traction control on the Ghia. There's remote double central locking for security, with an alarm standard on Zetec and Ghia models which helps with insurance.
